Close your Pollinate account

You can close your Pollinate account and choose what happens to your posts and data. Do it in the app, or email us if you no longer have the app.

In the app

  1. Open Pollinate and sign in.
  2. Go to You.
  3. Tap Close your account.
  4. Choose what happens to your account, then confirm.

Every choice signs you out everywhere and withdraws your answers to gatherings that have not started.

Without the app

Email support@pollinate.social with the subject “Close my account”. Tell us:

  • the phone number you sign in with, including its country code;
  • your handle, if you remember it;
  • which choice you want: Delete everything, Keep your posts, remove your name, Keep it all for 2 years.

Before we close anything, we check that the phone number is yours. We answer within 30 days, and tell you when your account is closed.

What each choice deletes and keeps

  • Delete everything. Your posts and comments are deleted, your name goes, and you leave every community. Your posts, their photos and earlier versions, your comments and your gathering chat messages are deleted, as are the people you met in person and the countries you checked in from. Your name, handle and cities are removed, and you leave every community. Your phone number is let go, so it can start a new account.
  • Keep your posts, remove your name. Your posts and comments stay, shown as from a former member. Your account closes. Your posts and comments stay, shown as from “Former member”. Your name, handle and cities are removed, and you leave every community. Your phone number is let go, so it can start a new account.
  • Review your posts first. Delete the posts you choose, then close your account and keep the rest without your name. This one needs the app, where you go through your posts. The rest are kept without your name.
  • Keep it all for 2 years. Pollinate keeps your account and everything in it, with your name, for 2 years. To come back, sign in with your number and verify the same ID again. Without a verified ID, you can't come back to this account. Nothing you made is deleted. It stays as it is, with your name, for 2 years, and only a sign-in with your number and the same verified ID reopens it.

Gatherings you're hosting: if nobody has said yes, they're cancelled. If people are going, they're asked to take over hosting, and a gathering nobody takes over is cancelled when it starts.

What we keep, whichever you choose

  • Posts and comments that are being moderated, or held for a legal reason, stay with their reviewers.
  • For now we also keep your votes, your pollen and standing history, reports you made, and your answers to gatherings that have already happened.
